Colour Hut Academy offers professional hair training at our salon in Upminster, Essex - practical, hands-on courses taught by Victoria, an experienced working stylist with years of professional experience.
Why Train at Colour Hut Academy?
Whether you are starting out in hairdressing, returning to the industry, or adding specialist techniques to an existing service menu, every course is structured to give you skills you can use immediately.
We keep class sizes small - a maximum of 8 students - so every student works directly with the trainer throughout the day. Our approach is 80% hands-on practice, 20% theory: the ratio that actually builds skill.
Based at 157 St Mary's Lane, Upminster RM14 3BL, we are easily accessible from Hornchurch, Romford, Brentwood, Rainham, and across East London and Essex.
80% practical training - you spend most of the day doing, not listening
Small class sizes - maximum 8 students, so you get real attention
Taught by an active salon professional - not a full-time classroom instructor
Government-accredited courses available (NVQ Level 2 & 3 via VTCT)
Government funding may be available for NVQ courses - see eligibility details
Short courses from £399 - individual techniques bookable separately

Group courses run with a maximum of 8 students. Private courses (Nano Keratin Bonds) are one-to-one. NVQ students are taken through training individually.
Do I need experience to attend?
Most short courses are open to complete beginners as well as working stylists. Each course page confirms whether any prior experience is recommended. NVQ Level 2 is the standard entry point with no prior qualification required.
Is government funding available?
Government funding through the Advanced Learner Loan scheme may be available for the VTCT NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 courses, depending on your circumstances. A limited number of funded places are available each year. Check your eligibility at www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan/eligibility or contact us to discuss your options before enrolling.
Will I receive a certificate?
Structured ABC courses (Cuts, Colour) include a final exam — students who pass receive a certificate of completion. One-day practice courses include a certificate of attendance on request. The VTCT NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 are nationally accredited qualifications recognised by employers across the UK.
